The deaf annex attached to the primary school in Tororo is the first institution of its kind in the district of Tororo in Eastern Uganda.

In May 2005 some 70 pupils were taught using sign language. At a later stage it is planned to provide job-training for the young deaf people.

The building of the school for the deaf was made possible through the financial support of the Augsburg Rotary Club. The Wienbeck Foundation for Medical Development has also made a substantial financial contribution to the the project.
